Opportunity isn’t something you find. It’s something you build.
After college, I was waitressing and facing a wall of rejection, over 100 “no’s” to be exact. I remember wondering if all the work throughout college went to waste. But in that waiting season, I realized something powerful. I didn’t need to be picked to get started, I already had all the tools I needed.
So I created The Sports Paige. I built my own platform, got credentials, and showed up even when it felt like no one was watching. I created my own luck. I stopped waiting for a door to open and decided to build my own.
So if you’re in the middle of a season that feels quiet or disappointing, know this. You are allowed to create your own way forward. You don’t have to wait to be chosen. You already are.

Maria has earned every step of where she is, through hustle, late nights, and a deep belief in the work.
She’s a champion for women’s sports, and she doesn’t just talk about it, she pushes coverage forward, fights for the visibility it deserves, and sets a standard with how she shows up.
What makes her different? She brings people with her. She’s poured into others, including me, and made space in an industry where that doesn’t always happen.
She’s not just changing the game for herself, but for everyone around her💪🏼

I’m really excited about this one, Keiana Martin is someone I personally look up to 🤍
She was raised on faith, family, and football, and turned a love for sports into a powerhouse career in broadcasting. After graduating from San Diego State, Keiana got her start as an intern with the Kansas City Chiefs, and from there, she never looked back.
Through stops with the Nuggets, 49ers, NBC Sports, MLB Network, and MSG, she built a reputation grounded in hustle, grace, and authenticity. Today, she’s a nightly anchor on CBS Sports HQ, the host of Inside College Football and Inside College Basketball, and a sideline reporter across CBS and TNT Sports.
Her story is a reminder that the opportunities that change your life often come from one brave moment, one bold step. You don’t have to wait until you feel ready. You just have to start.
Because when you bet on yourself, you don’t just rise, you change the game.

6 Things I Wish I Knew Before Working in Sports Media
1. The industry is smaller than you think.
Everyone knows everyone. Your reputation travels fast, so let your work ethic, kindness, and consistency speak for you before your resume does.
2. Things will go wrong, on camera.
Mic packs die, names slip, your IFB cuts out mid-question. It happens. But that’s where resilience kicks in. You need confidence, quick thinking, and a little bit of grace to roll with it, and keep the show moving.
3. You might prep for 3 hours… for a 30-second hit.
And you have to be the expert in those 30 seconds. That means research, angles, and anticipating every “what if.” People may only see a soundbite, but you’ll know the hours behind it, and that’s what makes it count.
4. You’ll constantly be battling the elements.
Rain, wind, heat, snow, you still need to smile, sound clear, and stay composed on camera. Sidelines don’t care about your blowout or your boots. You adapt and keep going.
5. It’s not always glamorous.
There are fun parts, for sure. But there are also long drives, late nights, no WiFi, and doing makeup in the car mirror. You hustle behind the scenes so that what people see feels seamless.
6. You’re going to do jobs outside your title.
Sometimes you’re your own camera person. Sometimes you’re the editor, the social media manager, the scheduler, and the one reading books to a 3rd grade class during reading week. It’s not just about being on camera. It’s about showing up fully in every space your voice is needed.

What started as selling clothes on Facebook during COVID to cover bills turned into something so much bigger.
Hallynd launched her own boutique, Maddox, and ran it for four years, online and at a pop-up in the Providence Place Mall. But over time, the spark that once lit her up started to dim. And instead of forcing it, she made the brave choice to pivot.
She bartended five days a week. She built a traveling bar business. She finally said yes to the dream she’s had since she was a little girl, cosmetology school.
Now, she runs her mobile bar with two of her favorite people, she’s studying a craft she loves, and she’s showing us what it really means to keep evolving.
You’re not behind. You’re not lost. You’re just in the middle of becoming.
Hallynd is changing the game. 🤍

POV: you bet on yourself.
Success doesn’t always show up with confetti and fireworks.Sometimes it looks like quiet progress, small wins, and trusting the vision when it’s not fully clear yet.
Betting on yourself doesn’t mean it’s easy, but it’s always worth it🤍

One week. Two very different goals.
On May 1st, I looked at my to do list for the month and felt overwhelmed and honestly like I wouldn’t be able to do it all. I wanted to share a few of my stories from May🤍
At the start of the week in the photos above , I was sideline reporting a baseball series in Boston and by the end, I was on the pageant stage.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: you don’t have to pick just one thing to pursue. Sometimes, the pressure of ‘one big thing’ feels overwhelming and can stop us in our tracks. But I’m living proof that when you prioritize, prepare, and take it step by step, you can accomplish multiple big goals, even in the same week.
Another moment from May? I wrapped up pageant orientation in Rhode Island at 9:30 p.m., drove straight to New York, and was ready to broadcast a softball game by 9 a.m. the next day.
The key? Focus on one task at a time, keep moving forward, and pray through the process. Before you know it, you’ll look back and realize you’ve conquered more than you thought possible. 💪✨

Meet Ariel..Armor Officer, restaurant manager, and Miss Finger Lakes 2025.
Growing up, Ariel had a heart full of passions and a mind full of ambition. From dreaming of Cornell to commanding in the National Guard, she’s living proof that purpose doesn’t always come in a straight line — but in persistence, service, and faith.
Today, she wears many hats: leading soldiers in reconnaissance missions as a 19A, managing fine dining operations with grace, and inspiring audiences as a seasoned titleholder in the Miss America Opportunity. Through it all, her why remains the same — to serve.
“To be a leader, you must first be a servant to others.” — Matthew 20:26
Ariel is breaking molds and redefining leadership, reminding us that strength comes from service, and that the little girl with big dreams is always worth believing in.
Let’s keep Changing the Game — for the girls who dream in color and lead with heart. 💫🇺🇸👑

Beyond the surface… there’s a whole lot about me than what meets the eye🤍
If you’ve ever felt like you had to pick one lane or fit in a certain box, same.
But life’s way more fun (and real) when you let yourself be all the things God made you to be.
I’m a sports reporter who loves fashion.
A piano player who runs Spartan races.
And an ambitious go-getter who’s still figuring it all out.
This is your reminder:
You can be strong and soft. Bold and kind. Polished and goofy. Balanced and determined. All at once.

5 Things I’ve Learned as a Woman in Sports 🎙️
1. You’ll stand out, and that’s a blessing
You weren’t made to blend in! As a woman in sports, you automatically stand out in a room, take advantage of that and always show up as your best self because people will notice!
2. Your perspective is your superpower
The way you see the world, the way you ask questions, the way you tell stories, you emotion, it’s not just different, it’s needed in this industry! Remember, there is a little girl out there or a woman watching sports that has a similar perspective as you!
3. Preparation earns respect
Doing your homework, knowing the game, and showing up sharp is how you command the space you’re in, and earn the respect of athletes, coworkers, coaches, etc.
4. God’s timing > your timeline
There will be seasons of waiting, doors that feel slow to open, or maybe never do, but trust that what’s meant for you is never late or missed.
5. Your authenticity is your asset
The most powerful thing you can be is yourself. Don’t shrink yourself, be someone you are not or try to fit a mold you think has been set for you! You shine brightest when you’re real.
Women are needed in sports and you belong! Although it can be hard sometimes, there are so many amazing benefits of being a woman in sports! So be yourself, have fun and keep breaking barriers!

I’ve been the only woman in the room more times than I can count.
But I never saw that as a weakness, I saw it as a responsibility.. A responsibility to represent women with strength, grace, and purpose. To show what’s possible when we BOLDLY walk in our purpose.
This is what changing the game looks like. And we’re just getting started!! 24 hours 🤍👑

From foster care to the crown, Lexi’s journey is a testament to grit, grace, and growth.
Adopted at age 7. Soldier in the Rhode Island Army National Guard. Now, Miss Rhode Island 2025.
Her story isn’t just about resilience, it’s about rewriting the narrative.
Lexi says , “To every young girl reading this: You are not too much. Not too broken. You are exactly enough.”
This is what Changing the Game looks like.
When women lead with purpose, there’s no limit to where they can go 🤍

Last year, I entered Miss Rhode Island on a whim, not knowing what to expect. What I definitely didn’t realize how much I would fall in love with the process— pageantry truly is the process of becoming the best version of yourself and learning how to impact others along the way.
When I placed 2nd runner-up, I thought I failed. But in the past year, I’ve become the woman I always dreamed of. This journey has shown me that it’s not about the outcome, but who you become. And I’m so proud of the woman I’m bringing and the young women I represent into Miss Rhode Island 2025🤍
